POSITION OPENING -- NEW POSITION
CHEMICAL HYGIENE OFFICER

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has an opening in the
Department of Environment, Health & Safety for an Industrial
Hygienist/Chemical Hygiene Officer.

Industrial Hygienist/Chemical Hygiene Officer

The Environment Health and Safety Department at UNC-Chapel Hill has an
opening for an Industrial Hygienist/Chemical Hygiene Officer.  Successful
applicants must have a strong background in chemistry and the evaluation and
control of chemical hazards in the workplace. This person will plan and
implement a comprehensive chemical safety program to support the
University's mission of research and teaching. The program will include
assessment of risks pertaining to chemical hazards; review of research
proposals to protect environment, health and safety; training of laboratory
personnel in chemical safety principles; coordination of activities of the
Laboratory and Chemical Safety Committee; and general surveillance to ensure
compliance with applicable State and Federal regulations pertaining to
chemical hazards. The selected candidate should have good verbal and written
communication skills, and good interpersonal skills. Knowledge of the OSHA
Laboratory Standard, Hazard Communication Standard and other chemical hazard
regulations is needed.  Hours are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday - Friday. Minimum
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Physics,
Industrial Hygiene, or a closely related curriculum and one year of
experience in industrial hygiene inspections. Salary Range: $36,935-$54,434.
