Subject: bird doo

We have nesting swifts and swallows nesting in eaves and under veranda
type roofs in our picturesque California Mission style buildings. Most
of us enjoy the birds and bird activities, however, they make bird doo,
sometimes in substantial quantities.

Can anyone share information on:

1) Bird doo clean-up protocol for in-house staff

2) Control measures (humane, i.e. not fire hose removal) to prevent
nesting of swifts and swallows (mud nests built with bird spit adhering
to wall surfaces in corners in eaves etc.).

I know about Histoplasmosis and Psittacosis - I don't need info on bird
doo diseases - I am looking for practical specific information on
control measures and clean up.

thanks
