Subject: Safety professional liability insurance question
All,

I just got a ridiculously high quote from my professional liability insurance
carrier. My application is for about the same amount of covered work and I
still have never been sued or had a liability claim against me. A perfect
record. The charge went up from $2500 to $5000. They claim this is now their
minimum for any professional liability insurance policy regardless of details.

Even more important, the amount of work I do that should be covered is very
small. Half of my work is under the auspices of Local USA829 IATSE and is
covered under their policies. So it is only the small amount of building planning
I do for our small nonprofit corporation, ACTS, that really needs to be
covered. ACTS primary income is from my training and teaching seminars--something
one is not likely to be sued over.

Does anyone out there know of a professional liability insurer who covers
industrial hygienists or safety professionals for less? I'd really appreciate
some leads. Off list probably would be best.

Thanks all,

Monona Rossol, M.S., M.F.A.,
