Gender Equity has taken on a new meaning in the recent issue (Feb 13, 2006,
page 65) of C&EN. Women are now shown disregarding recognized eye protection
practiced and ACS policy (See Safety in Academic Chemistry Laboratories).
It continues to be disappointing that the editors of C&EN remain seemingly
insensitive to showing chemists wearing proper eye protection while working in
laboratories. Now, women have an equal opportunity!
Perhaps our new ACS President will help our Society and it's major news
magazine do a better job on this important issue. She may better appreciate that
placing "blind faith" in the C&EN editors is apparently ineffective.
