Clarkson Univeristy Environ. Health Sci Position Announcement: Tenure Track Faculty Position Assistant/Associate Professor (Tenure-track) Location: Clarkson University Biology Department -Environmental Health Science program Clarkson University Position Vacancy Notice No.: 17-07 Closing Date: Until Position is filled Clarkson University invites applications to fill a full-time, tenure-track position in its Environmental Health Science (EHS) and Environmental Science and Policy (ES&P) programs. The position rank is open at the assistant/associate level. The successful candidate is expected to pursue a vigorous, nationally visible, externally funded research program and maintain a strong commitment to teaching at all levels. This faculty member will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses across the EHS and ES&P curricula. Typical course topics may include: environmental health, industrial hygiene, exposure monitoring, risk assessment, environmental science, and contaminant control courses. In addition to the teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate is also expected to, in conjunction with the Director of the program, be fully active in the continuing development and promotion of both programs. The successful candidate will have an interest in collaborative research that complements existing expertise at Clarkson University and aligns with Clarkson's Center for the Environment, which facilitates interdisciplinary research and education in the environmental area. The EHS and ES&P programs have a strong relationship with the Clarkson Center for the Environment which has over 40 faculty affiliates, and provides research, education and outreach opportunities for faculty and their graduate students. The range of research expertise among these faculty has resulted in Clarkson being ranked 25th in the country in environmental engineering and health graduate programs in 2007. Qualifications: An earned doctoral degree in environmental health, environmental engineering, public health, environmental science or a related field is required. Evidence of effective university teaching and evidence of the potential for obtaining extramural funding. Persons are especially sought with expertise in one or more of the following areas: environmental science, industrial hygiene, the impact of the built environment on health and the environment; risk assessment, and development and evaluation of community-based environmental health issues. Clarkson is a private university with a nationally recognized reputation in research and education located in Potsdam, NY. Potsdam is an educational and cultural center of northern New York located in proximity to the Adirondack Park and within two hours of Ottawa, Montreal, and Lake Placid.
