Or the ancient flat head 6 1948 DeSoto I bought for $80 and drove in College which was the only car on the block that started regularly even at 10 below zero. 
 

Not an option....lived in a third floor apartment in the inner city...happiness was a warm battery and 10 mL of diethyl ether.
