Gail,

Try this one:

"An accident i s a near miss that hit its target."

[AXIOM: All accidents announce their impending arrival; the announcements are calle d "near misses".  So while the forthcoming accident in its Near-Miss-Stage, eliminate the causes of the near miss that has occurr ed.]

All,

I am going to present an award to a graduate student w ho intervened following a chemical explosion in a lab and prevented serious bu rns to a colleague by his quick action, and also put out a fire in a fume hood.  Do you have any appropriate “safety” quotes I can p ut on a plaque?  I’m looking for something more than the common one s – I’ve already searched Google.

Thanks.

Gail
