Our facilities dept supports/services standard chemical fume hoods that were installed as part of the original building construction, or whose installation they oversaw during, for example, a room renovation.  They do not support/service anything the Dept adds on its own.

Subject: [DCHAS-L] Fume Hood Maintenance & Repair

To  all who are in  Academic Research-

In this tight economy, universities are finding ways to recoup expenses.

How many of you have a Facilities department that supports & services fume hoods as part of the general infrastructure of the laboratory?  Meaning, they will service water supply, HVAC, sewer, electricity, etc. and consider fume hoods part of the ventilation system.

Or-

Do any of you have a system in place where Facilities charges individual departments for their Time &  Materials, specifically for fume hoods?
