Chris – the new Prudent Practices edition addresses embryotoxins, allergens, and other potentially infectious agents. If you can be patient for about 8 weeks, it should be available online or in hard copy. OSHA has also indicated it may be reviewing the lab standard later this year and could expand to cover these hazards.

In the meantime, Baylor University has an SOP you might like:

Subject: [DCHAS-L] Chemical Hygiene Plan Components

Greetings all,

Sorry for the cross posting.

The lab safety standard (29 CFR 1910.1450) suggests some alternate procedures in the Appendix A for inclusion in a chemical hygiene plan.

I was wondering if anyone has standard operating procedures for work with “Allergens and Embryotoxins” and/or “Animal Work with Chemicals of High Chronic Toxicity”

that they would be willing to share.

Thanks,

Chris
