Have you looked into waterproof cast covers such as Xerosox?  They're made 
out of latex and can cover the entire lower leg.

Plastic bags (polyethylene) are resistant to acetone and almost 
everything else except hot aromatic solvents.  They do melt around 100C 
to 120 C so hot liquids could be a real hazard.  They are slippery too.
