SERGEANT BLUFF, Iowa -- Two Ohio men are facing a felony drug charge 
after a police K-9 found a mobile meth lab in the truck they were 
driving on Interstate 29 near Sergeant Bluff.
Jamie S. Cremeans, 40, and William Noel Strouse, 42, both of Mount 
Vernon, Ohio, were arrested Saturday and charged with possession of 
precursors with intent to manufacture methamphetamine, a class D felony; 
and misdemeanor charges of possession of drugs and child endangerment 
with no injury.

SPRINGDALE, Pa. -- County officials said two residents of a house in 
Springdale Borough reported feeling light-headed and dizzy.
An elderly man and his mother live in the 400 block of Chestnut Street. 
The son visited a local hospital to get checked out.
The hospital determined that the man had carbon monoxide poisoning.
Upon learning this news, he called 911 to report the problem and have 
his mother taken to a hospital too.
Emergency personnel responded to investigate and, while in the house, 
began to feel sick themselves.

A stretch of Highway 83 was closed down Monday near Stapleton for an 
ammonia spill south of the small sand hills community. Stapleton was 
also evacuated because of possible health concerns.

"It was at the Logan County Coop, just north of the Highway 83 and 92 
junction," Captain Jeff Hankla said. "They have four large ammonia 
tanks. There is one main pipe that feeds all four of them and the pop 
off valve ruptured, for an unknown reason. The personnel that worked 
there shut off all the valves, but they had one valve fail. So all that 
ammonia was being released into the air."

Emergency personnel from North Platte were called at approximately 9:30 
a.m., to assist with cleaning up the spill and to assist in fixing the 
valve. Hankla said the convenience store and coop were evacuated, and 
because of prevailing winds, homes were evacuated to the northeast of 
the station, including Stapleton. It also shut down portions of Highway 
83 and Highway 92 for about four hours.

A man was seriously injured in an explosion in Bellingham today while he 
was making hashish. Not meth. Not crack. Hash.
KIRO:

Firefighters said a man had suffered multiple flash burns on his body 
after there was an explosion inside his home. Bellingham firefighters 
from the hazmat team responded to check for hazards and determined the 
home was safe.
Bellingham police officers entered the home to assess the damage and 
found 6.5 pounds of marijuana, butane bottles, drug paraphernalia and 
hashish, officers said.

MERRIMACK - A chemical incident reported over the weekend has left 
Merrimack fire officials reconsidering response plans.
Early Saturday afternoon, Merrimack firefighters responded to the former 
BP gas station on Daniel Webster Highway, where the fire suppression 
system had activated, leaving the area covered in a powder substance.
In accordance with the town=92s existing protocols, the firefighters 
washed the material, a dry chemical known as Monoammonium Phosphate, 
down a nearby storm drain. =93The material data sheets indicate it=92s 
not an environmental hazard,=94 Fire Chief Michael Currier said Tuesday.
No fire occurred, and department officials are investigating what caused 
the system to activate. But the incident caught the attention of 
neighbor Chuck Mower, a former selectman, who contacted town officials, 
fearing the chemicals could get into the local water system.

CREWS QUICKLY EXTINGUISH FIRE AT SYNTECH CHEMICAL PLANT PEARLAND

PEARLAND, TX (KTRK) -- Foam helped firefighters quickly put out a 
chemical plant fire in Pearland overnight.

Several large tanks at the Syntech chemical plant on Hooper and Riley 
ignited just before 1am. Fortunately, firefighters tell us the tanks 
were filled with non-hazardous chemicals.
They sprayed gallons and gallons of foam on the fire. It was 
extinguished within 30 minutes.

Firefighters still don't know what started the fire.

A GAS cloud sparked by a chemical spill at a factory in west Suffolk was 
caused by firefighters treating the substance with water, it has 
emerged.

Residents in Haverhill were told to keep their windows and doors closed 
after a tanker delivering aluminium chloride to International Flavours 
and Fragrances (IFF) in the town, spilt its contents at about 12.40pm 
today.

About 240 staff at the firm=92s factory on Duddery Hill were evacuated 
when half a ton of the chemical spilled from the delivery truck onto the 
floor.

Aluminium chloride is a white powder which can cause irritation to the 
eyes, skin and the respiratory system if breathed or touched.

Group manager John Wilcock said fire crews from Haverhill, Bury St 
Edmunds and Ixworth, wearing chemical protection suits and specialist 
breathing equipment, were called to the incident about 12.49pm.

The crews then poured a bucket of water onto a shovelful of the chemical 
to test the reaction.

=93We tried to treat it with a bucket of water which sent a big gas 
cloud across the town which quickly dispersed,=94 Mr Wilcock said.

SALINAS, Calif.- Salinas firefighters said a cup of chlorinated liquid 
mixed with green soda led to the evacuation of one of the auditoriums 
Monday afternoon.

Fire officials told Central Coast News they believe it was a bad prank 
during a movie.

One person suffered a nose bleed, but he is doing ok.

The liquid was taken to the Monterey County Health Department and the 
theater was cleaned by management. Fire officials said theater 
management said it will step up its surveillance.

Emergency crews evacuated a portion of the Maya Cinema around 4:30 p.m. 
and the HAZMAT team responded. Initially, according to Salinas police, 
10 to 11 people reported getting a bloody nose and feeling sick after 
being in one of the auditoriums.
