NEWBERG -- An early morning explosion at a B
est Western motel in Newberg sent one man to the hospital by Lifeflight and a
woman and child to the hospital by ambulance.
The 3 a.m. blast also forced about 1
23 motel guests at 2211 Portland Road to evacuate into the parking l
ot, according to Capt. Jeff Kosmicki.
The man - later identified as Christopher Heidt, 29, of M
cMinnville - was found in the hallway with critical burn injuries. He was no
t breathing on his own and was listed in critical condition at last report.<
