Neal,

 

Same here at Princeton– there are post-docs and fellows and others who are classified by our University Research Board as Principal Investigators, but they are not faculty.

For those of you in academic settings, particularly in major research institutions –

Are there documented cases of a person being a “PI” and NOT being a faculty member.  That is, a “research professor” is still a faculty member.  Asked another way, is the wording

“faculty and Principal Investigators” redundant?
