And look at my Last Word column in the Jul-Aug issue of JCHAS for more on this.

If you have already voted - thank you;

If you have not, please vote before you forget

As part of you ballot, you have an option to provide feedback.  One comment was received today that will not affect the vote, but deserves to be put in front of our membership.

A direct quote, from an anonymous commenter:

I noticed that the candidates for council have both previously served in that capacity.  Although I know experience is important. I wonder why there was no 'new blood' on the ballot for those positions and for the others as well.  One candidate is really not a 'choice'.  Something should be done to increase the interest for these positions within the member population.

The Immediate past-Chair is responsible to put together a slate of nominees for the current leadership election.  This is one of the most difficult tasks the leadership assumes.  We want "new blood" but it is hard to get volunteers.  We post to the list requests to offer to serve in committee chair and leadership positions, but seldom get takers.

Look at my News and Views in the next issue of JCHAS for more on this.

So, the comment above is relevant to each member of CHAS.  I ask each of you, and the commenter in particular, to get involved.  Committee Chairs get a $450 (max) reimbursement for participating in our National Meetings; elected leaders receive $700 (max) and Councilors receive full expense reimbursement.

If you are interested in stepping up and becoming a recognized leader in your chosen profession, contact me directly and I will help you.

Neal
