Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator

St. Lawrence University invites applications for the position of Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator. Under the direction of the Director of Contracts, Compliance & Risk Management, the EH&S Coordinator assists in the development and implementation of campus environmental, health, safety and fire safety policies and programs governing a safe campus environment and meeting regulatory compliance. The incumbent will serve as the liaison between Safety & Security, Residence Life, and Facilities Operations in regards to compliance with related laws, regulations and policies and procedures as well as be the point person in resolving violations with students, staff and faculty.

Successful candidates will have a Bachelor's degree or related experience and 1 to 2 years of experience in one or more areas of law, regulation, practices and procedures related to ensuring a safe work place, including building codes, NYS fire codes, OSHA regulations and environmental health and safety codes and regulations.

Activities include scheduling and assisting in all code inspections conducted on a predetermined schedule, coordinating and assuring corrective actions are completed, maintaining accurate documentation of compliance and training activities, preparing necessary reports and conducting a variety of training programs.

The EH&S Coordinator will have strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in both an individual and collegial setting with minimum supervision and often to accomplish the goals of the position through others. Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint is required.
