Very good point Kay.

Sam use extreme caution and shield the set up during demonstration.

It sounds like you plan on drawing a vacuum on the flask in order to boil water that’s inside.  If so, please don’t.  There is a real danger that the flask might implode.  We tape all our filter flasks against such a possibility.  I would expect a  4-L flask to be even more “imperfect” and likely to break than the smaller ones we use.  Get a Bell Jar.

Hi all,

I'm looking for a 4L filter flask for a demo but they all seem to be $150-$250. We are creating a vacuum in order to boil water. It needs to be that big because of the size of the lecture hall. Does anyone have a good website to turn to for glassware like this?

Thank you,

Sam
