We used =3Bboth the lab armor beads and the aluminum heating blocks with great success. =3B =3BMuch safer =3Band cleaner than oil baths.
 =3B
It is more expensive though...

Hi, Debbie,

 =3B

I picked up a little packet of metal beads at the Denver ACS meeting in March that provide a good substitute for oil or water. =3B They are called Lab Armor Beads ™, =3B and produced by a company of the same name. =3B They provide either heat or cooling and eliminate the problems of bacteria, mold, algae, and flammability. =3B Plus, they provide energy efficiency.

 =3B

Their web site is www.labarmor.com, and their phone number is 1-888-227-1410. =3B

 =3B

It sounded like a great idea to me.

Subject: [DCHAS-L] Options to replace oil baths for heating

 =3B

Good morning:

 =3B

I need to offer some options to replace oil (silicone or mineral) with a different material for heating baths. =3B I'm also looking at heating block options and have a number of suppliers to review - cost may be an issue here.

 =3B

Ideas? =3B  =3BThe Google has failed me this morning.

 =3B

Best,
