The American Board of Industrial Hygiene® (ABIH®) is pleased to announce the release of a short video to inform the public about the role of the Certified Industrial Hygienist® (CIH®). The video lasts 105 seconds and is designed to appeal to a wide range of viewers and ages. We hope that this video will serve as an introduction to what CIHs can do and encourage them to explore further into how CIHs protect people in the workplace and beyond. The video is accessible through the ABIH® website at http://www.abih.org. You may also view or link it into your own web and social-media pages using the URL https://youtu.be/M-7FXpWfxrY. Please feel free to forward these links to your family, friends, and colleagues. And, if you have suggestions for distributing the video to wider audiences, please let us know!
Also, ABIH® recently conducted a survey in conjunction with the Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals® (AHMP®), the American Industrial Hygiene Association® (AIHA®), the American Society of Safety Engineers® (ASSE®), the Board of Certified Safety Professionals® (BCSP®), and the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management® (IHMM®) to learn more about the current economic climate, so we can better understand and report on trends in the profession, and in turn, serve ABIH® credential holders better. Thanks to all of you who took the time to respond. The survey results have been tabulated, so we are now providing a link to an on-line salary calculator that will allow our diplomates to compare a CIH’s salary with other health and safety practitioners. You can access the link to the calculator through our website at http://www.abih.org/salary.
