I  don't think there are any fewer chemicals in a vinyl glove that might cause allergy than in a nitrile. They are just two different plastics with all their attendant additives -- most of which you will never be able to identify. If this person really has an allergy to something in the nitrile glove, lots of luck figuring out what that is. And since they change additives often, this might not be a forever-to-all-nitrile-products allergy.

It is a good link, I would recommend a vinyl glove as a liner if the cotton liner does not work (suggest in link). I have also used Kimberly-Clark Purple Nitrile gloves for a person who has a latex allergy since they contain no natural rubber. Just remember it may not be an allergic reaction to the rubber but one of the compounds used to make the glove. So the vinyl gloves usually solve the problem if that is the case.

Re: Latex and Nitrile Glove Allergies

We currently have a student going through our chemistry program that has an allergy to latex and nitrile gloves. Does anyone know of a suitable alternative they would recommend? I have found several alternatives, but I know virtually nothing about the gloves themselves.

Thank you,

Amanda MacPherson
