Subject: [DCHAS-L] Safety culture education survey

I am collaborating with a couple of colleagues in a panel discussion next week at the CSHEMA regional conference in Massachusetts. The topic of the discussion is how the EHS office can best support the development of a generative lab safety culture in higher education.

As part of this discussion, we would like to get a sense of the state of the art for academic EHS departments in providing safety culture education and training to laboratory students and staff. To this end, we have put together a short survey about current practices in safety culture education in academic institutions. To participate in this survey, please go to

and complete the 14 questions there. You will note that we ask several demographic questions as part of the survey, as we suspect that the most effective cultural practices will depend on a number of aspects of the institution's size and shape.

In return, I'll provide a summary of the responses and copies of the powerpoint files from the presentation after the panel discussion is completed.
