I recommend that EHS does the sampling, preferably someone who has training calibrating pumps, observing work practices and interpreting laboratory results after submitting the samples to an AIHA LAP accredited laboratory.

NIOSH Method 7102 is the recognized "gold standard" sampling and analytical method for beryllium.å The NIOSH Manual of Analytical Methods is available online.

Dear All,å

We have a researcher who is planning to work with new beryllium materials using in-lab sintering technology and then characterizing those materials. My question is regarding monitoring,å

* What is the monitoring method used at your institute ?å
* Is monitoring performedå by EHS, or third party or by lab personnel themselves ?å
* If monitoring is performed by lab personnel then do they receive specific training on monitoring methods ?å

Regards,å

Sandhya
