The Occupant Load Factor is used to calculate the minimum fire safety requirements for the building/portion of the building NOT to calculate the space allotted per student in a particular room.

We probably face some of the same problems as many colleges and universities in terms of the number of students

that can safely occupy a general chemistry laboratory.

Information from NFPA sets 50 sq. ft. "net" per occupant. I am thinking that "net" includes benchtop working space and excludes glassware and chemical storage cabinets.

Would anyone be able to tell me if my interpretation is correct?
