I'll second Kali's point. It would be great for C&EN to promote physical distancing and other public health measures through the pictures and/or videos chosen
to accompany articles and posts that cover COVID-19 or our collective response to this crisis. However, I don't think that standard would necessarily be relevant when assessing media to accompany articles that address topics which are independent of the current
time.

Subject: [DCHAS-L] C&EN photos in pandemic times
Hi all,
As many of you know, C&EN works diligently to show appropriate safety measures in photos and video. I nixed two photos this week alone because people in a lab were not wearing eye protection.
Now the question has come up: Should we also now insist on distancing and/or masks when we show more than one person? Given that the requirements will surely vary by country, region, and organization, this is a harder lift than insisting
that people in a lab wear eye protection. I'd welcome anyone's thoughts on this, either through the list or directly to me.
