Quite a bit of discussion indeed!  While the archiving process is mostly automated, I still have to manually review the output before the posting get onto the web site because there is no standardization of mail messages and there are occasional horrid glitches.  I try to do that review on the weekends and release the posts to the archive in batches.

Been so busy with my respirator project I fell a bit behind about 200 posts (two weeks worth), but I caught the archives up to date on the weekend.  Will try to keep it up better!

Speaking of the respirator project, our plan to put affordable quality masks into the hands of the front line people who need them the most has been an extraordinary success. Several hundred nurse anesthetists so far and counting.  Tons of dentists and oral surgeons, plus first responders etc.  We still have N99's available and have ongoing supply coming up, but we pre-sold our entire inventory of N95's which won't even arrive until late June.  Starting an August wait list for more.   If that isn't keeping us busy enough, our social distancing signage line is off the charts and our usual safety stuff is about normal.  We're in the unbelievable position of doing a month's worth of business every five days amid an economic meltdown. Crazy times.  Explains why I haven't chimed in on conversations  lately.  On the bright side, that's probably lessened everyone's reading load. Plus the archiving work, heh.

I'm sure we've discussed this somewhere, but in all of the current goings on, I don't seem to be able to find the emails. I am looking to get everyone's take on face coverings in the chemistry lab. (CDC recommended cloth face coverings) Yea? Nay?  Why?

You're correct there, has been a lot of discussion of this topic. I don't think the community has gotten to a Yea or Nay on this yet. As with any PPE policy, there are both technical and cultural pros and cons to this idea. (The con I've noticed in the last week is that it is difficult to get the attention of and communicate with someone orally when you are wearing a mask; this challenge varies significantly from individual to individual.)

Anyway, the CHAS discussions on the topic can be found at
