EXPLOSION ROCKS CHEMICAL TANKER ON YANGTZE RIVER

An explosion damaged the 2018-built chemical tanker Qiu Feng 6 on Wednesday and injured two crew members.

The incident occurred when the vessel was sailing near Wuhu on the Yangtze River. A video of the incident shows the crew possibly washing the tank when the explosion happened.

Three crew jumped into the water and were later picked up by a rescue team and another two crew were injured and sent to hospital for emergency treatment, while the other four crew members onboard were unharmed.

The fire triggered by the explosion was put out and authorities have started investigations into the cause of the incident.

Hyderabad: Three persons were injured when a reactor exploded in a chemical unit in IDA Bollaram on Thursday evening. A thick smoke billowed out of the factory for some hours after the blast. Locals in IDA Bollaram and Ameenpur areas were visibly shaken.
TSPCB officials said Sree Harsha Organics had leased out the unit to PNM Life Sciences. It took the fire services personnel 20 minutes to control the fire after they were informed about the blast in the PNM unit at 6 pm. Fire officials said the blast occurred in one of the reactors during the solvents‰?? recovery process.
Divisional fire officer, Sangareddy, V Srinivas said three persons were injured and the processing shed collapsed. Senior officials from the factories department and TSPCB also rushed to the spot. Ravi Kumar, environmental engineer, TSPCB, said: ‰??The accident occurred during the recovery of piperazine, an organic compound, from one of the reactors.‰?? Joint chief environmental engineer, TSPCB, inspected the unit.

PUNE: MAJOR FIRE AT CHEMICAL FACTORY IN KURKUMBH MIDC, NO ONE INJURED

A major fire broke out at a chemical company in Kurkumbh MIDC in Daund taluka of Pune district on Friday morning. No one was injured in the incident, an official said.

On receiving information, Devendra Potphode, chief fire officer of Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), said, several fire tenders were rushed to the spot at Kusmum Distillation and Refining Private Limited Company to douse the flames.

‰??The blaze erupted around 10.30 am. Water tankers were rushed to the site and the fire was doused. Cooling operation is underway now,‰?? an official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

The incident came to light after a huge sound was heard in the area. Flames and smoke, which were seen billowing from the office premises, triggered a panic-like situation in the area for a while.

The official said that drums containing acetone and ethanol were kept at the plant.

‰??As the fire spread, those drums caught fire and exploded. A blanket of thick black smoke engulfed the area after the blaze. Nobody was injured in the incident as the plant was shut,‰?? he said.

POLICE, DRUG TASK FORCE INVESTIGATE WATERTOWN METH LAB

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Officers responded to the upstairs apartment at 445 Arsenal Street around 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

Members of the Jefferson County Drug Task Force arrived on scene an hour later for what they call a meth lab investigation.

A lab response team arrived in Hazmat suits handling barrels outside the apartment, which sits on the corner of Arsenal and North Meadow streets.

A member of the Drug Task Force tells 7 News three people are involved in the incident.

BUFFALO, S.D. ‰?? A Friday morning semi wreck in Harding County blocked both lanes of traffic and caused the road to be flooded with flammable chemicals, according to a Facebook post from the Harding County Sheriff‰??s Office.

The accident on Highway 79 north of Ludlow Road required multiple personnel from outside agencies to be called in, including both Hazmat units from RCFD Station 6.

PARSIPPANY, NJ - An overturned auto with a person entrapped along with a truck with a fuel tank, caused an environmental and traffic mess on Rt. 287 this evening, May 22nd in Parsippany.

At mile marker 41 on Rt. 287 southbound, the fire department and County Hazmat were on the scene. Over 100 gallons of diesel fuel spilled and leaked into the storm drains.

The person that was entrapped has been rescued.

A massive fire broke out at a chemical factory in Surat on May 23. Fire tenders arrived in time to extinguish the fire. 12 fire tenders have reached the spot and are trying to bring the fire under control. No casualties have been reported so far. Further investigation is underway.
