This article might be of help: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6315945/

Silver ions target 1 bacteria-specific and 2 general metabolic mechanisms of living cells.  Since viruses do not replicate outside of a host cell, the efficacy of even the last mechanism, the interference with DNA replication, is likely very limited. With other words, I would not rely on it.

Short answer--haven't used these.

So I read through a brochure (the one from the ABSA query) and your link.  No EPA registration #, no mention of the product being effective against viruses, particularly not coronaviruses.

If it doesn't state on the label that it is effective against a particular biological agent or class of interest, I'm not sure what it has going for it.  The EPA registration number basically allows a manufacturer to make the claim the disinfectant is effective against whatever agents it has been tested on and has shown a certain level of efficacy.  Not all disinfectants work on all biological agents--for example, greater than 60% ethanol is effective against COVID-19 but not against Hepatitis A.

Hope this is helpful-unfortunately, probably not the answer you were hoping for...

Are you referring to "Microban" type products?

Hi Everyone,

Copying a question I saw in another group, does anyone have used antimicrobial-type tapes for highly touched areas?

Can you share your thoughts?

Thank you,

Alessandra
