Dear Colleagues,

COVID-19 has changed how we engage with students. The critical role making and hands-on activities play in education, however, remains the same. We have developed a framework for remote making as a part of a new course that will provide best practices for enabling remote making now.

"Enabling Remote Making" is a live virtual 3-day course that will provide the tools to effectively retain or emulate residential making in an online setting. MIT faculty, technical and EHS staff will guide you through the logistics of moving hands-on education online in a safe and responsive way. Through a series of lectures, discussions and hands-on activities, you will learn how to

Adapt quickly

Assess student needs

Define learning objectives

Identify the best digital tools

Utilize video production and social media

Program hands-on activities

Promote safe making

Communicate effectively

And more

Course offerings and registration information can be found in at https://project-manus.mit.edu/course . We hope that members of your faculty and staff will join us for this engaging and interactive experience.

Best regards,
