This book shows that the words Cuprox and Coleman may be associated with two products. See page 17 reagent list for nitrogen determination by the Dumas Method. (Also described in the AOAC Handbook, EPA 6700, and other books.)

That said, your product codes don't match the codes listed in the book. So, it could be yet a different product. Maybe someone out there is familiar with the Dumas Method and can shed some light on this?

Subject: [DCHAS-L] Cuprox?

** External Email **

Doing a lab clean out for a retired faculty member, we have come across a 1 pound bottle of dry powder labelled Coleman 29-103 Cuprox reagent, of an age prior to 2008 and probably older than 2000.

Google seems to indicate that this material used in analysis of water samples, but I can't find an SDS that is clearly associated with this company or an ingredient list that allows me to make a RCRA waste determination for this bottle. Does anyone have any references as to what the contents of this container are?

Thanks for any help with this.

- Ralph
