People who are managing chemical and chemical safety information electronically may be interested in the invitation below. Dr. Robert E. Belford of Univ of Arkansas, Little Rock Department of Chemistry is managing an internet text discussion of chemistry information tools and how they can be used, both in general chemical education and as a chemical safety tool.

For example, the first paper, to be discussed next week, describes how to use the INCHi protocol to collect and share chemical safety information from the National Library of Medicine's PubChem database. You can see this paper at
https://confchem.ccce.divched.org/2020CCCENL
and the abstract is
This paper is about IUPAC project 2018-012-2-0241, the InChI OER, which is an Open Education Resource designed to provide educators and other interested parties with resources, training material and information related to InChI, the International Chemical Identifier. The InChI OER is an extension of the InChI Trust website that allows people to share and find resources related to InChI. Although the InChI OER is of value to a wide variety of people this paper seeks to reach out to chemical educators and provide them with an understanding of InChI and its role in the practice of science.

Bob invites chemical safety professionals to get involved in the discussion to help envision uses for this tool.

Let me know if you have any questions about this.

Re: ccce Newsletter
I wanted to let you know the ACS CHED CCCE (Committee on Computers in Chemical Education) will be running an online Newsletter on the use of computers in chemical education over the next several weeks, and several of these may be of interest to members of this community.
Here is a link to the site, and discussion of the first paper starts Monday,
https://confchem.ccce.divched.org/2020CCCENL

We are using the ConfChem list (which dates to 1993) to discuss these and please contact me directly if you have any questions or are interested in joining the discussions (rebelford**At_Symbol_Here**ualr.edu).

Cheers
Bob Belford
