Forget it. This demo has no pedagogical value and raises several, including safety, questions. Not worth the bother!

A face shield would be best with glasses. As done, hydrogen is escaping into the air and if the person is not careful, that could be another hazard. I agree with Sammye and Jessica - tongs!!
