Jyllian and All:

The discussion about this demo reminded me about the rubric authored by the Committee on Chemical Safety in collaboration with NSTA that describes criteria for considering the pedagogical role of a demonstration and determining whether it meets or exceeds best practices for safety. Please have a look at this resource at

With the best wishes for a healthy and more open 2021. I am very grateful for your expertise and commitment to safety and safety education.

Many, many thanks to everyone who took the time to respond to my query! You all are always helpful and generous with your time, but I truly did not expect so many responses so quickly this particular week. You confirmed what I suspected, and C&EN won't promote the video by including it in Chemistry in Pictures.

Best wishes to everyone for 2021,
