Dear Craig, This is an impressive risk assessment tool. It is formulated on an enormous database from multiple agency sources and assembled by FEMA on a national geolocation format. It is an interesting prototype to consider to address chemical health and safety in laboratories. The issue is resources to develop an effective tool to identify hazards and evaluate risk.
ACS, specifically DCHAS, doesn't have such a comprehensive database from which to formulate an appropriate and parallel risk assessment based on geolocation parameters for chemical health and safety. Much of the data I have seen on chemical health safety is generated by functional entities, specifically industrial and academic organizations. Some databases have been generated by these sources with regard to chemical hazard incidents and consequences to identify hazards, but not as risk assessments. This would be a significant effort on the part of ACS, even if ACS would even be interested in it. Thank you for introducing DCHAS members with this information.
