Call for Faculty Facilitators

Do you want to give back in 2021? ACS is looking for faculty interested in the role of workshop facilitators to support the 2021 ACS Postdoc to Faculty Workshop in Portland, Oregon, July 30 - August 1.

Facilitators would be involved in reviewing 5-6 mock faculty position applications from postdoc participants (prior to the workshop), and serve as panelists and group activity moderators during the workshop. ACS will cover travel, 2-night hotel accommodations, all meals, and a $500 honorarium for selected workshop facilitators. This is a great opportunity to network with the future generation of chemical science faculty.

The Postdoc to Faculty (P2F) Workshop is a 3-day program that compares and contrasts positions and expectations in the variety of higher education institutions in the U.S., along with providing advice on applying for faculty positions, strategies for balancing scholarship, teaching, service expectations, and more.
The Postdoc to Faculty (P2F) Workshop:

  • compares positions and respective expectations in undergraduate and graduate chemistry departments
  • provides assistance with and feedback on on faculty application materials
  • presents strategies for balancing scholarship, teaching, and service expectations with life outside academia
  • creates a network of early-career faculty along with mentors, who can help guide newly-appointed professors
  • introduces interactive teaching models and provides resources to facilitate their incorporation.
If you are interested in serving as a workshop facilitator  for the 2021 Postdoc to Faculty Workshop, please complete THIS FORM by Sunday, February 7, 2021. ACS will select a balanced group of workshop facilitators from all entries by mid-March 2021.
Safety is a core value of the American Chemical Society, and as such the health and well-being of our members, community, and staff are paramount. As a result, we will continue to monitor the situation regarding COVID-19 to determine if the 2021 Postdoc to Faculty Workshop should be held in-person or virtually.

If you have any questions, please email us at Postdoc**At_Symbol_Here**acs.org.
What Your Peers Say:

"The Postdoc to Faculty Workshop (P2F) provided me with practical tools for my faculty job search as well as for my first independent position. After I attended the P2F workshop, I started a tenure-track faculty position! I regularly use the skills and insight I gained during the workshop. P2F also provided me with a network of young faculty with whom I am still connected 2 years later." - P2F Participant
