For sanitizing surfaces [vs sterilizing] the "old" bleach should be ok.  The commercial bleach solutions contain a "stabilizer" that to some degree preserves the hypochlorite. If one looks into the "ancient" literature, dilution of commercial 5.25% sodium hypochlorite by1 to 10 or more to swab down showers and bathroom areas was common.

Hello,

I was wondering about using old stocks of bleach for disinfecting in bio labs. The bleach is about 2 years old and has never been opened. I am not sure if it is industrial or commercially available bleach. Any advice would be appreciated.
