Demystify:

Are there similar resources out there for post-secondary labs? Our undergraduate general chemistry lab has 24 seats, but we cap enrollment at 18, which gives us barely 50 sq. feet per student. I have had push-back that we need to fill the room, in spite of the data in the "Overcrowding in the Instructional Space" document. We're located in a non-NFPA 101 adoption state, so the best I can do is push for the cap based on best practices, unless there is some other legal guideline out there for UG instruction that can help support the case. How do your UG institutions handle this?

My colleague and I are the Chemical Hygiene Officers in our school. We currently only allow 24 students in any lab based science class. We are being asked to justify this enrollment limit.. Our current lab space accommodates 24 students.

Does anyone have any resource guidelines that state we cannot go beyond this capacity?
