Thanks for this information.

One aspect of your story I appreciate is the fact that having two people involved resulted in earlier detection and mitigation of the problem. Similarly, a lab tech told me a story about changing out 70% ethanol preservative solutions in insect collections stored in an unventilated space with a partner. After about 15 minutes of this work, she noticed that the other person was acting silly and realized that they were both getting drunk from breathing the ethanol.

This aspect of lab safety is not often present in the ongoing and ever present "working alone in the lab" discussions...
