Given Ralph's observation about the lack of management skills courses, especially for technical folks, I thought I'd mention that
Lab Manager Academy has a Lab Management Certificate with 4 tracks of 5 courses each for a total of 20 courses. [Full disclosure: I work for Lab Manager Magazine and the primary course instructor is my Manager Scott Hanton, PhD in chemistry]
The full 20-course certificate is currently $1499
Each track of 5 courses is $449
Each individual course is just $99 (all are USD)
Scott's PhD is in chemistry, he worked in labs for 30 years and was a lab manager for 20 years. I'll add that he uses the management skills he teaches and as a direct report I appreciate his experience and skills as a manager and leader.
