Hi Laura,
I always made my bromine solutions fresh and kept them in a dispensing fume hood for the week it was being used, disposing of any excess as haz waste. I stored the opened bromine bottle in a VENTED acids cabinet with other non-organic mineral acids such as HCl.
Best Regards,
Monique
Hi all,
Does anyone have any good resources or guidance on bromine storage? I'm interested in gathering information on best practices for storing open bottles of bromine and solutions of bromine in chloroform.
I've not worked with it myself outside of doing the standard bromination lab in organic chemistry.
Thanks,
Laura Cunningham, Ph.D.
