Demystify:

Melinda,

Is this the inhalation of SF6 and helium gases then speaking?  Maybe you should have mentioned that in your post.  It seemed like a YouTube idea to me.  (Tony liked some of those as an undergraduate.)

Cost is a big issue.  Source cost and disposal cost.  A lecture bottle might be in the hundreds, but the disposal of the bottle is in the thousands.  And, is there a safe lecture bottle regulator?  A cylinder from Roberts (and a regulator if it doesn’t take the N,He,Ar regulator would last forever so you would be paying cylinder rental every year.

Subject: [DCHAS-L] SF6 for demonstrations

Hello, everyone,

I have been tasked with investigating procedures for use of SF6 for lecture demonstrations. So I wanted to check in with you all to find out if you have any experience with supplying or supporting this demo and if so what tips, pointers, precautions, and/or prohibitions you might be willing to pass on.

Any help or info much appreciated,

Thanks,
