Our system was built in-house, but the fire department has access to it. It is used by all spaces on our campuses, including the performing arts spaces and shops.
People can go online and add chemicals when they are received and delete them when they are used up. The system notes the exact location on campus and the responsible party, so we can have multiple responsible parties with their own inventories
listed for one room if appropriate. The fire department has access to the system and can look up this information at any time.
There is also an annual attestation requirement, so we can see if people have attested to the inventory’s accuracy in the past year. This is helpful for spaces where the inventory doesn’t change often, so the “date modified” listed may
be years past.
There is one department on our campus that uses barcodes and scanners to inventory everything and then that system uploads to the main system for campus. Unfortunately, we do not have the resources for a system like that to be used in all
locations.

Alex, That's what I need more information on, especially for the shop and studio workplaces. I haven't seen a really good inventory system in any art or performing
arts facility ever.

We are a large university and we have an in-house chemical inventory system that allows us to maintain chemical inventories in real time. Inventories are checked
for accuracy by our EH&S inspectors who visit the research and teaching laboratories, as well as shop workspaces, on an annual basis.

I'm trying to gather data to see how often universities are doing chemical inventory.
If you could please reply and state if you are a small, medium or large university and if/when you do chemical inventory and the frequency.
This information is greatly appreciated.
