All,
The ANSI/ISEA Standard say weekly activation for time sufficient to ensure correct operation, that flushing fluid is available, and to clear sediment, etc. No time is specified in the Standard for Activation.
The 15-minutes is for yearly certification that the device meets all ANSI Z358.1 criteria for Certification (refer to the standard for all information and the proper Appendix which is not part of the standard but provided for information).
These are 2 different things and are often confused.

ANSI Z358.1 says weekly for 15 minutes
But this wasn’t adopted by OSHA

Hello,
We want to start flushing our eyewash stations to keep the stagnant water from growing microbes. How often is it necessary to do to keep microbes from growing and for what duration should the eyewashes be flushed? Please feel free to e-mail
me directly. I am sure this is something that has been discussed before I joined. No need to clutter up the listserv. Also, is there an archives I can search for the listserv to check if a subject has already been addressed? If so, how do I access it?
Thank you,
