Demystify:

Thank you for the two links, Alessandra.

FYI, Google Translate does very well in translating entire Web pages from Portuguese, and many other languages, to and from English. With my knowledge of Spanish and limited experience with Portuguese I was able to confirm that the translation to English that system provided was very good.

Is there any local information that follows up further on the information in the Reuters piece about the gas release?

I would observe that the root cause of most grain explosions is usually related to a failure to adequately control grain dust, or clean up after an unintended release. The observation that no similar events have happened in a long time is basically irrelevant.

Hi Everyone,

I am not sure you all saw this:

https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/least-eight-dead-after-silo-explosion-southern-brazil-2023-07-27/

I am not seeing the weekly "safety accidents" summary anymore. Is that gone?

Anyway, being Brazilian, this does not surprise me. Unfortunately, "accidents" like this and many others related to safety happen way too often.

Another one that I can't for the life of me find any English communication on (and I know you probably don't know Portuguese but in case you do: https://g1.globo.com/jornal-nacional/noticia/2022/10/05/vazamento-de-gas-toxico-mata-mulher-e-apavora-moradores-na-cidade-de-pontal-sp.ghtml) happened last year when a toxic gas release on a neighborhood killed a woman, left 100s hospitalized and many, many animals died. Despite the existence of a chemical a block away from the incident, "nothing wrong" was found.

Alessandra
