Genius Lab Gear has the Lab Coat Project where they have taken into many of the issues of lab coat design. They are taking orders now for the initial run of manufacturing.
I ordered one.

Cotton butcher coats were the closest I have found for the “ideal” lab coat. Especially liked the pockets being on the inside keeping them out of trouble.

Subject: [Non-DoD Source] [DCHAS-L] "universal" lab coat?
I have a recollection that about 3-4 years ago someone at a national meeting CHAS section presentation there was the description of a (“nearly universal”?) lab coat that would protect against fire, acids/bases, organics, etc. Can someone
point me towards a website that describes this?
Thanks,
Dave
