If you would like to read some hair-raising stories I suggest "Ignition!
- An Informal History of Liquid Rocket Propellants" by John D. Clark.
All the things that can go wrong (or sometimes surprisingly right) when dealing with toxic, corrosive, high energy oxidizers and fuels, sometimes in the same molecule!
