All:
I received the information below from HOWARD PETERS. Howard is a strong supporter of safety, a colleague and friend, and an active voice in ACS leadership. I agree with his concern that ACS must do more to support its industrial chemists and increase membership from that sector.
Completing the petition on his behalf takes less than 1 minute. It does not obligate you to anything, but it does open the way for the membership at large to support industrial chemists.
Please consider signing this petition and supporting Howard.

If you have questions, reach out to me or to Howard.
Thank you.

From Howard Peters to CHAS Members:
This is your notice of my quick petition effort to be a formal Candidate for ACS Director at Large this fall.
What do I need to do the have a voice in this important ACS election?... and the CHAOS we all now see?
WELL...I need 241 approved dues-paying ACS members to sign my e-petition below and submit it electronically to the ACS Secretary's Office now...(ASAP)...
on or before July 15....that is 0.25% of the eligible current ACS members. Is that possible?
What can you do?
You need to link to and
(1) complete the ACS e-petition below and submit it electronically to ACS Secretary's Office. AND... then
(2) please forward this REQUEST electronically on to at least two more ACS members/colleagues for them to consider and to sign and to submit to ACS...and then...& forward on.
Each ACS member receiving it should submit their signature and then forward this e-mail message on to ACS members.
MANY THX
(I understand that I will be informed each week by ACS of the current approved count.)
WHY .. would a chemist/patent attorney with 60+ years of ACS membership do this?
Do I read the newspapers? C&ENEWS? Do I watch the news on TV ? Am I on the Internet?
What can I do as a single voice to respond to the current CHAOS?? What can you do?
Question...Is the nat. ACS Board and Staff doing enough to speak publicly about STEM and chemistry in this CHAOS... as the largest scientific society in the world?
Question...Do you think that the RMS TITANIC (sorry...RMS American Chemical Society) might change its course...and be doing more and moving to a different path for its members? If so, then...
The ACS petition information is copied below...for your quick use ~ 2 min. Are you interested and/or concerned?
I ask now:
1. for your signature and submission of the ACS petition by July 15 and...
2. Please forward this e-mail request on to at least two ACS colleagues for consideration and action, and
3. ...for one vote of current members of the ACS Council in the coming election in the fall...
Thank you.
Yours very truly,
Howard Peters, Ph.D., J.D. aka Mr. Chocolate
