Hi all,

The Western Regional meeting is now open for registration, hotel reservations, abstract submissions and award submissions.  Please check the website, www.wrm2025.org, for more information. 

 

We are pretty excited about the program which will feature some great presentations.  There will be plenary talks by William Tarpeh, Stanford, Judith Giordan, Chris Sarko, Novartis.  Dorothy Phillips and Marinda Wu will speak at the WCC luncheon and Bill Carroll is the featured speaker at the SCC breakfast. Glen Fox, UC Davis will give the keynote address on the Art and Science of Brewing Beer to be followed by a reception and beer tasting.  The awards speaker will be Richard Zare.  There are also symposia to honor Robert Grubbs, Attila Pavlath, John Brauman, Neal Byington and Harry Mosher.

 

We will also be giving 4 awards at the meeting:  Ann Nalley award for ACS volunteers, Stanley Isreal award for advancing diversity, High School teaching award and the Partners for Progress and Prosperity award.  These are regional awards, so please submit nominations for the deserving chemists from your local section.

 

There will also be a day focused on undergraduate students, with a poster session, seminars, a career and college transfer fair and a series of free workshops designed specifically for undergraduates.

 

The deadline for abstract is July 21, and the award deadlines are Aug 1 and Aug 15 (see website for details).

 

Please publicize the meeting for your members.  We look forward to seeing you there.
