Dear CHAS members:
The ACS Western Regional Meeting is occurring October 25-28 in San Jose, CA, and CHAS is sponsoring a safety symposium based around the RAMP methodology on October 27.
Promoting safe chemistry with RAMP: Recognize, Assess, and Minimize Hazards, Then Prepare for Emergencies
A chemical professional’s work involves a plethora of hazards, whether in a lab or a plant environment. Discover how to identify and control the important hazards—the “big risks”—using the ACS’s RAMP methodology (Hill & Finster, 2025). Papers will discuss aspects of RAMP’s application to chemical workplaces and the promotion of safe chemistry using RAMP.
If you are able to attend the meeting in person, we would love to have your presentation! Please submit abstracts by July 21, 2025 at the submission link found at the main meeting webpage
https://wrm2025.org
Information on the remainder of the program, the schedule, registration, and accommodations can be found at the same link.
Please consider submitting a presentation abstract! We’re looking for a broad variety of presentations. Feel free to contact me if you have an idea and you are not sure about its suitability; I’d be glad to help you crystallize your thinking.
Regards,
Dan Kuespert
Symposium organizer
