How does one safely charge their electric transportation devices in a way that they won’t be stolen?

My daughter works in a high-rise office building in NYC.  A coworker plugged in his scooter to charge it at work.  She called me wondering if it was safe .  I said, absolutely not, unplug it and make sure everyone is aware of the hazard.  I guess some of my safety parenting paid off!

External Email : do not open link and attachement unless you are expecting them.

This is exactly what I am concerned about on campuses.
