As a Justrite distributor, it’s good to see people using their stuff. It’s been on my to-do list to get this line of items added to our on-line store, and the prices with us (and just about everywhere) will be a lot better than Grainger’s.
If anyone wants a two page Justrite brochure on their HPLC safety disposal cans, coalescing carbon filters, and PTFE manifold and compression fittings, contact me OFF LIST and I can email that to you.
Best wishes,
Rob Toreki

Hi Rachel,
I work in an analytical lab that has multiple LC units. We do not have vented into a hood. Instead, the best practice is to use is a specialized waste can that has two fittings. The first will be hooked to the LC, the second should have a coalescing/carbon filter to capture any vapors.
I’ve seen these in many analytical labs I have worked at or visited over the years, so pretty standard set-up in industry. Here is a link to the cans we use from Grainger, and the filter is in the compatible products list. There are smaller options available, too, but we need the bigger size since we are running daily.
Hope this helps.

We are hoping to do some work with the LC this summer using acetonitrile but are concerned about ventilation of the fumes. Our waste currently runs to a bottle that has a closed funnel. Do labs typically have their LC waste container in a fume hood for ventilation? Our LC is currently in a fairly small room that has one large vent in the ceiling. Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
