Subject: CHAS ballot alert
As Division secretary, I thought I would alert the list that all
members of the Division of Chemical Health and Safety of the American
Chemical Society should be receiving this week or next a ballot via
postal mail to vote on the most recent by-laws changes for the
Division. These proposed changes have been reviewed by the Division's
Executive Committee and many of them are administrative changes
recommended by the ACS for consistency with their guidelines.
However, a key change is that should be carefully considered is one
that will allow electronic balloting for officer elections and by law
changes. Such a change would allow the division to save the
significant printing and mailing costs associated with paper ballots
(about $2500 for this mailing) and allow for much more rapid decision
making on these key issues.
I hope that you will take the time to consider the information when
it arrives in your mailbox and vote. Note that the voting deadline is
April 1. If you would like me to e-mail you a copy of the ballot,
please reply to this message privately. Thanks.
Let me know if you have any questions about this.
